The Avenida La Pata Extension

Location: South Orange County, CA
Description:
This $136 million La Pata Extension Project is the largest roadway project in the (OCPW) Orange County Public Works department’s history. The project has created a much needed alternate route for South County communities. The three to five lane roadway begins in San Clemente and connects through San Juan Capistrano, Mission Viejo, and Rancho Santa Margarita as a bypass to the crowded I-5. Sukut Construction began working on the 3.6-mile “gap connector” in 2014. During the project, approximately 900,000 cubic yards of refuse and more than 14.8 million cubic yards of soil were successfully excavated by the Sukut Construction team. Avenida La Pata was completed after four years, creating a traffic-free alternative for motorists.

Trampas Canyon Dam and Reservoir Project

Location: South Orange County, CA.
Description:
This dam and water storage project for the Rancho Santa Margarita Water District has an accelerated timeline and Sukut’s crews worked 20-hour shift to meet the schedule. The project involves moving over 3.7 million cubic yards of material to buttress and raise an existing earthen dam 40 feet, importing over 600,000 tons of granular filter blanket materials, construction of inlet/outlet structures, a 600-feet long concrete spillway, 700-feet of 63-inch micro tunneling, three MSE walls, instrumentation, reservoir aeration system, 5,500 feet of 30-inch CML&C distribution pipe, 6,800 feet of asphalt access roads, and a Dam Control building.

Heacock Channel (Sunnymead MDP Line B) Stages 3 and 4

Location: Moreno Valley, CA
Description:
This flood control project for the Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District consisted of the construction of a 10,000-foot drainage channel in Moreno Valley. Work included dewatering, excavation, shoring, and placement of over 20,000 cubic yards of structural concrete. As a result of excellent communication and teamwork, the project will be completed nine months ahead of schedule.

Clinton Keith Road Construction Phase 2

Location: Murrieta, CA
Description:
This Roadway construction project for the County of Riverside was built to extend the six-lane arterial roadway of Clinton Keith Road an additional 1.7 miles to better serve the communities of Murrieta and Winchester. The project included 500,000 cubic yards of dirt and rock excavation, 97,000 cubic yards of rock blasting, 10,000 linear feet of RCP storm drain, two retaining walls, one cast-in-place multi-span box girder bridge, and one precast double-arch wildlife overcrossing with MSE walls. It also involved a decomposed granite median of more than 100,000 square feet, various minor concrete structures, 1,500 cubic yards of concrete sidewalk, 25,000 linear feet of curb and gutter, 10,000 linear feet of concrete barrier and over 30,000 tons of asphalt paving.

Port of Los Angeles

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Description:
As a prime contractor, Sukut Construction performed grading and demo operations in front of the ongoing erection of Reefer Racks – the red steel structures in the backdrop — inside an active Port of Los Angeles shipping terminal. The construction of this schedule oriented job marked the completion of infrastructure for the first-ever automated terminal to be built on the West Coast.
