Porter Ranch
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Description:
This hillside residential grading project is the last phase of the Porter Ranch development for Toll Brothers, Inc. It is located across the street from the first phase, which was also completed by Sukut. This project includes over 5,500,000 cubic yards of mass excavation, 3,400,000 cubic yards of remedial grading and the development of 718 home sites.
Hyundai-Kia Proving Ground
Location: California City, CA.
Description:
Sukut graded and paved a 6.5 mile oval test track for the Hyundai/Kia group. This construction consisted of 8,000 acres of land, the installation of 17,000 lineal feet of 16 inch waterline, and paving 10 miles of access roads.
Crystal Cove
Location: Newport Beach, CA
Description:
Sukut won the ASCE Project of the Year Award after moving 30 million cubic yards of earth and installing seven million square feet of earth strengthening Geogrid at this site.
Pelican Hill Golf Course and Resort
Location: Newport Beach, CA
Description:
In 1990, Sukut built the world-renowned Pelican Hill golf course. In 2005, Sukut Construction was asked by The Irvine Company to be a part of it’s consulting team and general contractor to construct the challenging world-class Pelican Hill Resort. Sukut also assisted in resolving the myriad of design construction issues associated with an aggressive schedule and complicated project. Due to the aggressive schedule, Sukut was constructing the project as it was being designed.
The following is a brief description of work completed:
• Move 2.4 million yards of dirt and install five large underground concrete cisterns (1.2 M gallons)
• Install 70,000 square feet of retaining walls.
• Install 6,000 lineal feet of storm drain, 6,000 lineal feet of sanitary sewer and water lines, street improvements, a 360 ft. golf cart bridge, and dry utility conduits.
• 55 Sukut employees on this project at any one time.
• Sukut constructed the project without plans being complete, known as design/build project.
• Self-performed 61% of the work.
Portola Springs
Location: Irvine, CA
Description:
This project was to rough grade a housing tract under a tight deadline. Scheduling of up to six contractors working concurrently made it possible to complete the project on time.
The following is a brief description of work completed:
• Demo, clear and grub, mass rough grade and finish 125 acres of existing hilly farmland with various types of geotechnical formations from granular top-soil to granite bedrock.
• Stabilize slopes over 30 feet and buttress landslide material.
• Self-performed 95% utilizing only fence, hydromulch and v-ditch sub-contractors.
