Construction vs. Cancer SoCal is a fun event with a special mission. The American Cancer Society, ASC, organizes this yearly construction-themed event with a mission to raise funds to eliminate pediatric cancer as a major health issue. The donations made by the sponsors help fund cancer research, patient services, and advocacy.
The festive, fair-like Construction vs. Cancer SoCal event is open for young cancer patients and survivors, their families, sponsors and their families, and ticket holders. This year’s event took place on October 29th in San Bernardino and was the third year of Sukut Construction being a sponsor. With the help of this year’s sponsors, the ASC raised $90M!
Being so close to Halloween, the atmosphere was even more festive than usual. Attendees and sponsors came dressed in costumes, and every booth had candy for the kids. The Sherriff’s helicopter circled the field and landed at the top of a small hill, allowing kids and adults to sit inside it. The attendees also had a chance to try out SWAT gear and sit inside a SWAT truck along with the Star Wars Stormtroopers. Batman arrived on his Batcycle and later was seen playing cornhole with the kids. Young attendees could also climb inside various heavy construction equipment, honk horns, and even operate a few machines.
This one-of-a-kind event carries a very important message and represents a meaningful cause. To learn more about this event and inquire about next year’s schedule, visit: https://acslar.ejoinme.org/constructionvscancer
