On November 2, 2024, over 500 attendees, including nearly 200 children and their families, gathered in San Bernardino, CA, for the American Cancer Society’s (ASC) annual Construction vs. Cancer event. Organized by the nation’s largest nonprofit supporter of cancer research, this year’s gathering set an impressive record, with 14 sponsoring companies, three of which were new participants. The event created a memorable day of fun and excitement while generating essential funds to advance pediatric cancer treatment and research.
Since 2019, Sukut has been a proud sponsor of this event, driven by a commitment to celebrate children and create a joyful experience for families affected by cancer. This year, attendees experienced the thrill of operating construction equipment, playing games in Sukut’s sponsored sandbox, enjoying live performances from children’s bands, and savoring an assortment of delicious treats, including ice cream and Mexican food. A special highlight for attendees was a mesmerizing performance by Sukut’s magician, Hito, and his magical sidekicks, a bunny and a dove, who entertained the crowd for hours with tricks that captivated kids and adults alike. Hito, returning for his second year, left everyone spellbound with tricks like making his dove appear from a balloon.
This year’s efforts led to a record-breaking $75,000 in funds raised for the ASC, adding to the remarkable achievements over the past two decades. ACS’s dedication and the contributions from events like this have saved over 1.5 million lives in the U.S. We extend our deepest gratitude to all who supported this cause and encourage others to join us next year to help increase this lifesaving impact. Together, we bring joy to children today and hope for families for a brighter, cancer-free future.
