Last month, both publications, The OC Register and San Clemente Times, covered Sukut’s Trampas Canyon Dam and Reservoir Project. This project for the Santa Margarita Water District, referred to as the largest South County’s water project is located on a 177-acre site. Sukut is working on moving over 3.7 million cubic yards of material, construction of new inlet/outlet structures, a spillway, micro-tunneling, instrumentation, and a new Dam control building.
The construction efforts will enlarge the dam’s capacity of recycled wastewater that the District can distribute for irrigation. The face of the reservoir will be 216-feet high and the reservoir will be 3000-feet wide, 2700-feet long, 88-feet deep and will hold 1.6 billion gallons of water.
The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2020.
